They Gotta Be Beautiful, Rich, or Damn Miserable

I'm quite unhappy with the Indonesian Idol result last night. It's still in the workshop stage, though and there's a hope that the good ones that were already sent home would be back to the competition if they got the wild card next week.

The best female contestant was Wulan and she dropped out last night. Gisela, the worst one, was safe! Why? Because she got more SMS than Wulan, of course. But why she got more SMS? Because she's prettier and she comes from a richer family who can support her with their SMS. Wulan only depended her luck on other people's SMS.

Last night Gisela sang a dolly song which is really not an Idol competition quality. Even Indra Lesmana - the main judge - said, "If you sing that way, you'd better be a doll and not a singer."

But the voters, which mostly her friends and relatives, saved her life.

Yes. I know it's a competition where there must be a winner and losers. But in this competition, life - for one more time - shows how unfair it could be. I hope Wulan would be back, or else - let the most good-looking contestant whose family can afford sending millions of SMS win, no matter how ugly their singing is.

Another thing that has annoyed from this competition since the first episode is Dyna's unlucky and unhappy love. She lives alone as her father left her and her mother, and her mother is currently in jail. I feel sorry for her and her bad life. She can sing well too, but it doesn't mean that every week we have to get reminded how miserable her life is even though Indonesian Idol is a reality show. If she gets voted, let it be because of her singing ability and not her awful life! And last time the TV station (RCTI) dramatized it even worse. They called her mother on the phone and we gotta watch that sappy moments when Dyna got speechless and kept crying. Oh my.

I feel sorry for other contestants who are not beautiful, not rich, and have a good life. They really have no place in this competition, even though they might be the best singer this season.

I hope tonight's show would be better. I think it will since there's no decently good-looking and rich male contestants in Indonesian Idol 5 :)
